Diplomatic Breakthrough: U.S. & Russia In Talks in Istanbul

Hey everyone! 🌏 Big news from Istanbul: the U.S. and Russia have just wrapped up their second round of talks aimed at normalizing the work of their diplomatic missions. After around five hours of in-depth discussions at the Russian consulate, both delegations exchanged diplomatic notes and formalized commitments to boost banking and financial services for their missions.

Led by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Russia and Central Europe Sonata Coulter for the U.S. and Russia’s new ambassador to Washington, Alexander Darchiev, the meetings also focused on easing visa processing and travel regulations for diplomatic staff. They even set a roadmap for returning six diplomatic real estate properties that were lawfully owned by Russia but previously confiscated by U.S. authorities!

This constructive approach, which builds on an initial round of talks in February, highlights a positive step toward smoother global diplomacy. However, the U.S. did express concerns over a Russian policy that restricts the employment of local staff. Notably, discussions steered clear of issues related to Ukraine.

Overall, these talks pave the way for more effective diplomatic operations and better international cooperation. Stay tuned for more updates as this story evolves! 🚀
