Tariff Trouble: US Small Biz Brace for Impact

Small businesses in the US are feeling the heat from trade tariffs introduced by the Trump administration. According to a CNBC survey conducted from April 21–25 among 2,257 self-identified small business owners, a striking 66% have already experienced or expect to face the impact of these tariffs. 😬

Only 30% of respondents rate the current US economy as excellent or good, while 70% see it as fair or poor—fueling worries that the country could be headed for a recession. More than half of the small business owners (51%) expressed their dissatisfaction with Trump’s performance, and an equal percentage anticipate that upcoming changes in trade policy will hit their businesses hard over the next year.

For our young, tech-savvy readers across South Asia and Southeast Asia, these findings provide a fascinating snapshot of how global trade policies can ripple out to affect everyday business. Even if you're not running a business, these trends highlight the interconnected nature of today’s economy—where a policy shift thousands of miles away can influence market moods and impact innovation around the world. Stay informed, stay adaptive, and remember that awareness is the first step to navigating these complex challenges! 🚀
