U.S. Consumer Sentiment Dips in September Amid Inflation & Job Concerns

Hey everyone! 📉 The University of Michigan's latest survey shows U.S. consumer sentiment slid to 55.1 in September 2025, down from 58.2 in August – waaaay below last year's 70.3. So what's up?

Prices are still crushing wallets: 44% of folks say high prices are draining their finances – the worst since Nov 2024. 🔥💸 And thanks to tariffs, 60% are talking trade duties, up from just 28% in January.

Looking ahead, nearly 70% expect inflation to outpace any income boost in the next year. Yikes. 😬 Job worries are real too: 65% think unemployment will rise (up from 35% a year ago), and personal job-loss fears are at a 6-month peak.

UM economist Joanne Hsu warns that strong spending might get a reality check soon. In other words, keeping the spending spree alive could be a challenge.

Bottom line: With sticker shock and job jitters on the rise, U.S. households are bracing for a tougher ride. Buckle up! 🎢
