The 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) wrapped up in Shanghai this week, and for the first time, Kyrgyzstan stole the spotlight at the national pavilion! 🇰🇬✨
Known as the heart of the grassland Silk Road, Kyrgyzstan used its booth—crowned by its iconic red dome—to share traditions passed down through generations. From fragrant honey and jam made by local beekeepers to cozy wool and sheepskin goods, plus herbal handmade soaps, the display offered a taste of life along ancient trade routes. 🌾🐑
Why does this matter? Kyrgyzstan sits at a key crossroads in Eurasia, and this year they saw CIIE as a launchpad to expand agricultural exports and spark new partnerships. “The CIIE plays a key role in strengthening the economic partnership between our two countries,” said Tilek Zhumaliev, deputy director at the Export Development and Promotion Center in Bishkek. “It helps Kyrgyz businesses connect with Chinese partners, attract investment, and explore e-commerce and logistics opportunities.”
For young entrepreneurs and foodies across South and Southeast Asia, this is a reminder: local flavors and heritage crafts can find a global stage with the right blend of culture and innovation. Who knows—maybe the next viral street-food trend will come from a tiny workshop on the Kyrgyz grasslands! 🚀
