Exciting news from China's agritech frontier! The reusable test satellite Shijian-19 just completed a 15-day space mission, returning a batch of highland barley seeds now set for ground breeding in Shaanxi Province.

These specially selected seeds, hailing from Shannan City in the Xizang Autonomous Region, stand out for their high yield, extreme temperature tolerance, and pest resistance. Through the innovative process of space breeding, seeds are exposed to cosmic radiation, microgravity, and vacuum conditions to trigger beneficial genetic mutations, paving the way for hardier crop varieties.

Dawa Sangzhub from Shannan's Agricultural Technology Promotion Center explains that this breakthrough not only boosts crop productivity but also promises to uplift farmers' incomes. A collaborative effort between Xi'an National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base and local experts ensures seamless support from space mutation to harvest, blending cutting-edge science with traditional farming techniques.
