China Ensures Food & Energy Security Without U.S. Imports

China is set to maintain a rock-solid food and energy supply even without U.S. commodities, according to Zhao Chenxin, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission. 💪

Zhao explained that the Chinese mainland has abundant domestic grain reserves, and U.S. grain, used mainly as feed, made up only a tiny portion of overall consumption last year. Even if these imports were halted, the impact on food security would be minimal.

On the energy side, imports of crude oil, natural gas, and coal from the United States contributed only a very small share to overall needs. With ample local resources and diverse international sources, Chinese companies can easily shift away from U.S. energy products without disrupting supply. ✅

The official also noted that the so-called "reciprocal tariffs"—seen as an act of unilateral bullying—have been met with measured and effective countermeasures. Coordinated efforts among relevant departments aim to further secure food and energy supplies while ensuring smooth market operations.

This strong stance underscores a commitment to upholding a fair international trade system and maintaining stability at home, reassuring everyone that even amid global trade tensions, the nation's resilience remains unshaken.
