Cultural Exchange Ignites A New Era in China-Russia Ties

In a vibrant celebration of history and hope, cultural exchanges are breathing fresh life into the enduring China-Russia bond. Back in September 1938, Soviet cameraman Roman Lazarevich Karmen journeyed to China to document heroic moments during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Now, 87 years later, his grandson took part in a heartfelt event commemorating the 80th anniversary of those historic victories. 🚀

Hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK), the event was high on energy and nostalgia. A major highlight was the debut of the China-Russia co-produced film "Red Silk," which premiered in Russia earlier this year and is set for a Chinese theater release this September. 🎬 The 2025 China Film Festival in Russia was also officially launched, promising a platform for fresh cinematic stories that unite history and modern creativity.

The celebration extended beyond film. A peace-themed initiative was announced to collect historical relics and documentary images from citizens of both nations, aiming to craft a collective vision of peace and a shared future. On the same day, filming began on a co-produced documentary, "The Great Victory – China's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression Through the Lens of a Soviet Photographer," which explores the powerful images captured by Soviet photojournalist Roman Kalman in China. 📸

Leaders like Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and president of CMG, along with Oleg Dobrodeev, CEO of VGTRK, highlighted past collaborative successes and reaffirmed their commitment to further boosting content exchange, technological innovation, and personnel development. Congratulatory messages from Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin underscored the immense significance of people-to-people and cultural exchanges in strengthening mutual understanding and forging lasting friendships.

As the designated China-Russia Years of Culture for 2024 and 2025 kick off, expect more exciting initiatives that blend history, art, and modern tech—sparking creative collaborations and inspiring a shared passion for peace! ✨
