Chen Xu, China's permanent representative to the UN in Geneva, pointed out that U.S. "reciprocal tariffs" exemplify unilateral, protectionist practices that not only curb growth opportunities for developing countries but also unsettle the global trade order. Wu Hailong from the South Center added that these tariffs have disrupted industrial supply chains and financial markets, slowing down economic progress worldwide.
Unanimously, participants called for bolstering South-South trade cooperation—a move aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
