China Shines at 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships

The 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province, was nothing short of spectacular! The Chinese mainland delivered a stunning performance with a total haul of 31 gold, 15 silver, and 11 bronze medals, proving that hard work and passion truly pay off 💪.

World champion Li Yan stole the spotlight in the women’s +87kg category. Up against top competitors including Paris Olympic silver medalist Park Hye-jeong from South Korea, Li Yan launched her campaign with a 135kg snatch and then upped the ante with a 140kg lift, finishing an impressive 15kg ahead to sweep gold in snatch, clean and jerk, and total. In the men’s +109kg division, the competition was fierce too—South Korea's Hwang Woo-man clinched snatch gold with 196kg, while Iran's Sharifikelarijani Ayat captured gold in both clean and jerk (227kg) and total (422kg).
