China’s FM & APRC Chair Discuss New Mediation Initiative

Hey everyone, exciting news! Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently met with Surakiart Sathirathai, chairman of the Asian Peace and Reconciliation Council, in Hong Kong SAR during the signing ceremony of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed) Convention.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stressed that IOMed offers a fresh, voluntary way for resolving disputes while upholding multilateralism and the spirit of the United Nations Charter. This new initiative taps into regional platforms like China-ASEAN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, and the Asia Cooperation Dialogue to boost peace and stability across Asia.
