China Rejects Unilateralism at Shangri-La Dialogue for a Cooperative Asia

At the 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, China’s delegation made a clear statement against unilateralism and bullying, emphasizing the importance of collective security in the Asia-Pacific. During a special session on "Cooperative Maritime Security in the Asia-Pacific," Vice President Hu Gangfeng outlined how China will uphold its initiatives on development, security, and civilization to shape a maritime community with a shared future. 🌏

Hu stressed that a spirit of multilateralism, sincere dialogue, and mutual learning is key to building a sea of peace, friendship, and cooperation. This approach not only challenges practices of unilateral action but also aligns with the growing demand for transparent, equal exchanges among nations.

The Dialogue, hosted by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, is widely recognized as Asia's leading defense summit, gathering more than 550 delegates from over 40 countries and regions. Experts like Nuriyeni Kartika Bintarsari highlighted the need for China to take a proactive role in easing global tensions—a sentiment that resonates with young professionals who value open and considerate international discussions. 🤝

China’s Global Security Initiative, introduced in 2022 and formalized in 123 bilateral and multilateral agreements by the end of 2024, further reflects its commitment to shared security. Earlier this year, China proposed an Asian security model that prioritizes shared well-being and open dialogue, reinforcing the belief that every nation’s security concerns merit equal attention.

For tech-savvy and socially conscious young adults across South and Southeast Asia, these initiatives mirror the collaborative spirit seen in today's startup ecosystems—where teamwork and genuine dialogue drive innovation and progress!
