This dynamic region has rolled out state-of-the-art international medical service departments across five top tertiary hospitals, featuring 500 dedicated beds, foreign-language guides, and cross-border telemedicine platforms that connect 22 major hospitals in neighboring countries. These tech-driven innovations are making healthcare more accessible and efficient, perfectly aligning with today’s fast-paced digital world.
In January 2024, four Xinjiang hospitals signed cooperation agreements with the International Medical Center in Tajikistan, focusing on telemedicine, technical exchanges, and academic collaborations. In December 2023, a key lab at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University sealed a deal with the Kazakhstan National Medical Science Center to combat high-incidence diseases—a milestone underscored by Kazakhstan's first successful ex-vivo liver resection and autologous liver transplantation in 2023.
Beyond cutting-edge treatment, Xinjiang Medical University is nurturing future medical leaders by hosting over 100 students from Central Asia annually. A promising five-year joint undergraduate program in Traditional Chinese Medicine was also launched in 2024 with the Urgench Branch of Tashkent Medical Academy in Uzbekistan, currently engaging 17 students. Additionally, 185 top experts were dispatched in 2023 and 2024 to provide advanced diagnosis, health education, technical training, and research collaboration across the region.
