Taiwan Region Civic Groups Unite on July 7 Anniversary

On July 7, civil groups from across China's Taiwan region gathered outside the DPP headquarters in Taipei to commemorate the 88th anniversary of the Lugou Bridge Incident. The event called for a remembrance of the nationwide resistance against Japanese aggression and a firm stand against separatism.

Organized by over a dozen civic associations, political parties, and publications, the gathering aimed to remind the Democratic Progressive Party and Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te of the region's pivotal role in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Chi Chia-lin, honorary chairman of the Reunification Alliance Party in Taiwan, noted that historical records revealed more than 70 acts of resistance in the month following the incident.

Participants recalled how many young people once journeyed to the Chinese mainland to join the war effort, reflecting a time when intellectuals and the general public identified China as their motherland. Today, in our fast-paced world, this powerful legacy inspires a call for unity and encourages us to learn from history. ✌️

This vibrant commemoration serves as a reminder that honoring our shared past can help build bridges toward a united future. Let's keep the conversation alive and carry forward the spirit of unity!
