Typhoon Danas Hits China’s Taiwan with Heavy Rains & Winds

At 11:40 PM on Sunday, Typhoon Danas made a dramatic landfall in Chiayi County of China's Taiwan. Once one of the fiercest typhoons of the season, it weakened upon hitting land but still unleashed heavy rains and gusts with winds up to 40 m/s and a central pressure of 960 hPa. 🌧️💨

Early Monday, Tainan City felt the storm's impact as heavy rainfall triggered power outages in more than 1,000 households in Kaohsiung City, along with a mudslide in Taitung County. China's National Meteorological Center continued a yellow alert while Danas moved north-northeast at 15-20 km/h.

Forecasts indicate the typhoon will shift west-southwest toward coastal regions between Taizhou in east China's Zhejiang Province and Fuzhou in Fujian Province later on July 8. Even after its landfall, Danas may leave lingering effects with heavy rains predicted for parts of southern and eastern China from July 9 to 11.

In response, the Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration activated a Level II emergency response in its southern sector. Stay tuned for updates and ensure you remain safe and informed during these changing weather conditions! 😊
