China Urges Japan to Reflect on History & Act Prudently

In a recent statement, China urged Japan to draw lessons from its past, marking a significant moment as this year commemorates the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Spokesperson Jiang Bin from the Ministry of National Defense made the remarks after Japanese government sources mentioned plans to export six Abukuma-class ships to the Philippines. He stressed that defense and security partnerships should never target or undermine a third party's interests.

Jiang Bin also reminded everyone of the historical chapters of Japanese militarism, including invasions and colonial occupations in parts of East and Southeast Asia, and the occupation of islands in the South China Sea. His call for deep reflection and prudence in both words and actions comes at a time when regional security is ever more critical—much like how tech innovators learn from past missteps to build a better future! 😊

This appeal for introspection is a timely reminder for all in the Asia-Pacific that stability and peace are shared goals. Let’s hope that thoughtful dialogue and careful decision-making can pave the way for a secure and harmonious region.
