At the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) unveiled its groundbreaking ScienceOne AI model, a tool set to revolutionize scientific discovery across multiple fields. This innovative model integrates capabilities such as literature extraction, knowledge reasoning, and tool orchestration—cutting down literature review tasks from days to just minutes! 🚀
ScienceOne is built on open-source foundation models, enhanced with deep scientific customization to tackle common challenges in today’s research: fragmented data systems, limited specialized reasoning, and isolated tools. Developed by 12 CAS institutes including the Institute of Automation and the National Science Library, the model comprehends complex data like waveforms, spectra, and fields, powering breakthroughs in mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, earth science, and biology.
The team also introduced two intelligent agents based on ScienceOne. One assists researchers in quickly processing vast scientific literature, while the other autonomously plans and coordinates over 300 scientific computing tools. Already, this technology is driving innovation—from automating biological target identification on the X-Cell digital cell platform to enhancing particle simulation at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider and improving molecular prediction in chemistry.
For young professionals and tech enthusiasts, ScienceOne represents a vibrant blend of advanced AI and practical research support—a game changer that makes scientific inquiry faster, smarter, and more accessible.
