HK Govt Targets 16 National Security Absconders

The Hong Kong government has recently put the spotlight on 16 key absconders, with fresh measures aimed at curbing actions that allegedly endanger national security. Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung has exercised powers under the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance to specify these overseas activists, who are wanted by the courts for their alleged involvement in subversive activities.

These individuals – including names like Ho Leung-mau Victor, Chan Lai-chun, Feng Chongyi, Gong Sasha, Ng Man-yan, Tsang Wai-fan, Chin Po-fun, Ha Hoi-chun, Paul, Hau Chung-yu, Ho Wing-yau, Keung Ka-wai, Lam Tony, Ng Agnes, Wong Chun-wah, Wong Sau-wo and Zhang Xinyan – are suspected of persistently engaging in actions that compromise national safety. In response, authorities have imposed strict measures such as a prohibition on fund transfers, limitations on property-related activities, cancellation of HKSAR passports for most, and even temporary removal from office for some directors.

Government sources note that these lawless individuals are hiding in various global hubs like Britain, the United States, Canada, Germany, Australia, Thailand, and the Taiwan region, among others. They are also accused of inciting negativity and launching smear campaigns against the Central Authorities and the HKSAR, allegedly linked to a subversive organization dubbed the "Hong Kong Parliament."

This move follows earlier actions taken in June and December 2024, reflecting a broader crackdown on absconders suspected of endangering national security. The Hong Kong government remains committed to a robust approach in safeguarding its security. Stay tuned for more updates on this dynamic situation! 🚨
