Chinese Mainland Reviews Anti-Dumping Duties on Indian Optical Fibers

Hey tech enthusiasts! The Chinese mainland’s Ministry of Commerce just announced it’ll launch an expiry review of anti-dumping duties on single-mode optical fibers from India starting August 14, 2025. 📆

What’s an expiry review? It’s a check to see if dumping—selling goods abroad at unfairly low prices—is still a problem. If lifting the tariffs could harm local producers, the duties stick around. ⚖️

The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council says all rates and the scope of duties (7.4% to 30.6%) will remain unchanged during the review. These measures first kicked in back in 2014 and were extended for five years in 2020. 🔢

Why should you care? Optical fibers are the backbone of high-speed internet and 5G networks from Mumbai to Manila. More imports at lower prices could mean cheaper cables and faster connections, but local makers argue they need protection to keep innovating. 🌐📶

We’ll keep you posted as the review unfolds. Stay tuned for updates! 🔔
