What a finish at the 2025 Chengdu World Games! 🥋 On the last day of para ju-jitsu action, athletes from the Chinese mainland, Israel, Hungary, Germany and Italy put on a show of skill, resilience and pure heart.
The Chinese mainland makes history 🏆
Li Yucai and Guo Ao teamed up for the mixed duo para physical event and stunned the competition, edging out Germany’s Alessandro Schober and Christine Jahn 167–162. “We trained together for just four months,” Li shares with a smile. “This medal validates our perseverance, and we’ll keep championing this spirit.”
Nimrod Ryeder: King of ne-waza 👑
Israel’s Nimrod Ryeder lived up to his “king of men’s ne-waza” title by adding the men’s open crown (defeating Canada’s Nathan Dos Santos 2–0) to his 77kg gold. After a marathon semi where South Korea’s Joo Seong-hyeon retired injured in overtime, Ryeder played it cool: “I always put on headphones before the match to concentrate and keep mentally stable.”
A new queen rises 👸
Hungary’s Tamara Toros shocked everyone by taking down the defending champ Sung Ki-ra (2–0) in the women’s 63kg semis, then locked in the women’s open gold over Israel’s Meshi Rosenfeld with a slick submission.
Mixed duo para visual & mental feats 🤝
Germany’s Nike Hunecke and Julia Paszkiewicz scored gold in mixed duo para visual, just pipping the Chinese mainland pair Wang Wenqiang and Pan Tianyou 149–143. Meanwhile, Italy’s Napoli brothers Giovanni and Pietro Napoli took mixed duo para mental gold. Giovanni beamed, “He’s not different, just a little special. Carrying him to gold is my proudest achievement.” ❤️
From the Chinese mainland’s first para ju-jitsu gold to Ryeder’s double win and heartwarming sibling moments, Chengdu 2025 proved that para sports are where legends are made. 🙌
Stay tuned for more epic highlights from the World Games. Until then, keep your headphones on, your spirits high, and let every challenge be your stage! 🎧✨
