Sanfu Sizzle Ends, Heatwave Persists on the Chinese mainland 🌡️🔥

Hey fam, the scorcher known as sanfu – aka the dog days of summer – has officially wrapped up on the Chinese mainland. But don’t stash your sunblock just yet 🌞…

What’s Sanfu? 🔥🌡️

Sanfu marks the peak of summer in the traditional Chinese calendar. This year's 30-day stretch (July 20–Aug 18) clocked in as the second hottest on record, with a national average of 23.21°C – just a hair shy of 2024's record.

Where It’s Burning 🔥

Regions like Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Sichuan, and Henan saw more than 20 straight days of extreme heat. Over 100 weather stations posted new records for consecutive hot days thanks to a mega high-pressure system that blocked clouds and kept temperatures climbing.

The Heat Lives On 🌞⚠️

Good news: sanfu ends. Bad news: the high-pressure system is staying put into late August. Cities such as Hangzhou, Nanjing, and Shanghai could bake in temps near 40°C this week. Talk about a sweat fest!

Beat the Blaze: 4 Quick Tips 💦🍋

  • Hydrate like a pro – keep a smart water bottle or your fave nimbu pani on tap.
  • Chill your tech – pop your phone in Airplane Mode and into a shaded spot to avoid overheating.
  • Dress light – think cotton tees, linen sarees, breathable hijabs… whatever keeps you cool.
  • Plan around the sun – save laundry and outdoor plans for early mornings or late evenings.

Whether you're scrolling TikTok for cool hacks or chilling with a glass of iced teh tarik, stay safe out there. This summer isn't chilling 😅. Got your own heat-coping tricks? Share them with #SanfuSaga!
