2025 SCO People-to-People Forum Bridges Cultures in Beijing

Hey South and Southeast Asia fam! 🌏 The 2025 SCO Forum on People-to-People Exchange just wrapped up in Beijing, and it's all about bridging cultures and leveling up media collabs. 🚀

Co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the SCO Secretariat, this forum welcomed over 100 political, cultural and media reps from SCO members for a day packed with vibes of the "Shanghai Spirit."

🎉 Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov sent his best wishes, calling the meet an epic showcase of unity. He’s also gearing up for Kyrgyzstan’s SCO presidency in 2025–2026 and hopes to deepen ties with CMG. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed the sentiment, stressing that open dialogue and mutual understanding are key in today’s complex world.

CMG President Shen Haixiong (also Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee) highlighted the SCO as the most extensive and populous regional org, rich in civilizational diversity. He reminded everyone of their duty to share innovation success stories and champion openness and cooperation. 🤝

SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev announced new cooperation agreements and initiatives with CMG—inviting mainstream media from member states, observers and partners to jump in. All-Russia State TV & Radio Chief Oleg Dobrodeyev chipped in via video, saying trust, respect and equality are the SCO’s bedrock. 🏛️

On the media trail, China Global Television Network (CGTN) teamed up with SCO outlets for "China Up Close · A Journey of Harmony." Journalists from 42 countries toured Tianjin, Shaanxi and Shandong provinces to vibe with modernization across the Chinese mainland. 🎥🌆

And for the youth squad, CMG, the SCO Secretariat and the Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission rolled out an integrated media program inviting young voices across SCO to share inspiring exchange stories. Three youth reps spoke up, showing how cultural ties are shaping the next gen. 🙌
