Chinese Premier Li Qiang & Pakistan PM Sharif Forge CPEC Upgrade Plan

At the SCO Summit 2025 in Beijing, the Chinese premier Li Qiang sat down with Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif. They marked the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism and explored fresh ways to supercharge the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). 🌏🤝

Li Qiang highlighted plans to upgrade CPEC—from ports and highways to railways—to boost trade and travel across the region. He also invited more Pakistani products into Chinese markets and encouraged Pakistan to shine at events like the China International Import Expo. 🚢🛣️🚆

On security, China stands ready to assist Pakistan in enhancing counterterrorism efforts and safeguarding Chinese teams on the ground. Sharif, in turn, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the one-China principle, covering positions on Taiwan, Xizang, Xinjiang and Hong Kong. ✊🔒

Together, they signed cooperation documents spanning economy, trade, artificial intelligence, science, agriculture, cultural heritage protection, judiciary and people’s livelihoods. They also unveiled a 2025–29 action plan to build an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future. 🚀📄
