Budapest Buzz: China-Hungary Cultural Exchange Celebrates L.E. Hudec 🎥

🎉 On September 26, Budapest’s cultural scene got a major upgrade with the “Common Fate, Common Future” China-Hungary event. Co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG), Hungary’s Media Service Fund, and the Hungarian-China Friendship Association, the gathering spotlighted the power of media to bring people together.

L.E. HUDEC: More than just a doc
CMG president Shen Haixiong kicked things off by highlighting the strong bond between China and Hungary. The star of the show? The documentary “L.E. HUDEC,” which digs into the life and works of L.E. Hudec, an architect whose designs left their mark on Shanghai and beyond. By piecing together historical fragments, the film shows how Hudec’s vision became a bridge between two cultures.

Voices of friendship
Ambassador Gong Tao noted that airing the doc in Hungary isn’t just about numbers—it’s about deepening mutual understanding. Deputy State Secretary Csaba Gabor added that Hudec’s buildings in Shanghai are a living testament to shared heritage, while Nagy Judit of the Friendship Association reminded us that long-term cultural ties lay the groundwork for stronger diplomatic and economic connections.

Behind the scenes
Director Chen Qing took the audience on a behind-the-scenes tour of Budapest University of Technology and Economics, where key scenes were shot. The Hungarian-language version of “L.E. HUDEC” has been prime-time TV gold since its launch on September 6, drawing more viewers every week—and the reruns are already in the works! 📺

For young pros in South and Southeast Asia, this event is proof that global stories—whether told through architecture or film—can spark fresh ideas and connections. Keep an eye out for the reruns and get ready to #DiscoverHudec!
