China Vows UN Cooperation for Economic & Social Rights 🤝

Hey folks! China shook hands 🤝 with nearly 70 nations1 Bolivia, Egypt, Pakistan and South Africa1 at the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council. The big win? A resolution on "Promoting and protecting economic, social and cultural rights within the context of addressing inequalities" was adopted by consensus! 🌍

So what’s the buzz? The resolution pushes for stronger teamwork (aka multilateralism) and international cooperation to tackle global inequalities. It also gives a boost to the new knowledge hub (a central support network set up by China) that helps countries build resources and skills—like tech training, policy advice, and best-practice sharing.

At a recent daily briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said representatives from various countries gave a big thumbs-up 🙌. Developing nations pointed out that this move answers real-world needs, echoing calls for more voice and support in shaping economic, social and cultural rights.

Looking ahead, China vows to keep up the dialogue, work on an equal-footing basis, and support the healthy growth of the global human rights cause. It’s about true multilateralism—everyone pitching in, no one left behind.

For young changemakers in South and Southeast Asia, it’s a reminder that global progress on rights is powered by teamwork and shared visions. Stay tuned! 🌟
