Youth Innovation Sparks New Solutions to Tackle Poverty 💡

Youth Innovation Sparks New Solutions to Tackle Poverty 💡

In late August, young minds from the Chinese mainland and Chile gathered in Santiago for the China–Latin America 2025 Youth Challenge to Alleviate Poverty. Over three days, 310+ students and faculty from 27 universities and enterprises across the Chinese mainland, Chile, Brazil and Peru teamed up to dream up big, cross-cultural solutions for sustainable development 🚀

From turning mine tailings into eco-friendly building blocks to bringing digital classrooms to remote villages, designing foldable housing for disaster relief, and securing clean water where it’s needed most, these teams showed that youth-driven ideas can spark real change 💡

A standout squad from Tsinghua University and the University of Chile clinched the top prize with a solar-powered system that collects and purifies water for rural communities—a perfect blend of green tech and social impact 🌞

This isn’t just another hackathon; it’s a glimpse of how diverse talents can unite to tackle big challenges—think of it like the hack nights in Bengaluru or maker workshops in Jakarta, but on a global stage 🌏

Through CGTN’s Act to Action campaign, innovators from all APEC economies are invited to share their stories and ideas on global governance and sustainable development. Could that spark come from you? ✨
