At the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women in Beijing, Zimbabwe's Minister of Women's Affairs Monica Mutsvangwa praised the Chinese government for promoting gender equality and empowering women through collaboration and shared learning 🌍💪.
Mutsvangwa highlighted that women in Africa are not just beneficiaries but the backbone of change. She noted that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) led by women now contribute around 60% of Zimbabwe's GDP, showing how female-led innovation is driving the economy forward 🚀.
Reflecting on the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, she said it's the perfect time to review progress, recommit to the cause, and move forward together. With training from the Chinese mainland, women entrepreneurs are leveling up their digital game – from mobile marketplaces to social media branding, from Harare to Ho Chi Minh City!
Mutsvangwa also thanked President Xi Jinping and the Chinese government for their support in training programs. She expressed hope that Zimbabwe and the Chinese mainland will deepen cooperation on women's empowerment, green development, and inclusive growth – because when women lead, communities thrive 🌱.
