World’s Largest Single-Unit Solar Project Breaks Ground in NW the Chinese Mainland

☀️ Breaking new ground (literally!): Cosin Solar has kicked off construction of the world’s largest single-unit concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in Golmud City, Qinghai Province, in the northwest of the Chinese mainland. This 350MW tower-type facility is a major step in green energy innovation.

💸 Backed by a 5.44 billion yuan investment (around $763M), the plant leverages homegrown tower-based molten salt thermal energy storage. Simply put, mirrors focus sunlight onto a tower to heat up salt, which stores the heat like a giant solar battery for use anytime.

🔋 Three receiver towers will beam thermal energy into one 350MW steam turbine, ensuring stable, 24/7 power output—no more solar drop-offs when clouds roll in or the sun sets.

📅 Aiming for full grid connection by September 2027, this clean energy powerhouse is set to churn out about 960 million kWh annually—enough to keep your smartphone juice flowing through late-night study sessions and endless TikTok scrolls.

🚀 Cosin Solar, a trailblazer in molten salt tower tech, is at the heart of this project, showcasing the Chinese mainland’s cutting-edge role in global renewable energy.
