🌍 On Monday in Johannesburg, the 'Innovation, Openness, Shared Development' Global Dialogue kicked off, bringing together top voices from politics, business, academia and media across China and South Africa.
Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of China Media Group (CMG), opened the conversation by highlighting the outcomes of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. He noted that China’s new development blueprint will widen the door to global collaboration and create win-win chances for everyone. 🚀
Under Shen’s vision, CMG plans to leverage its international reach to tell authentic stories and drive partnerships in cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence and ultra-high-definition tech, sharing China’s innovation momentum in the new era.
Blade Nzimande, South Africa’s minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, applauded the strides made under China’s 14th Five-Year Plan. He pointed out that despite a rocky global economy, China’s resilience has injected fresh energy into world growth. 🌱
Nzimande emphasized deeper China–South Africa ties in climate action, digital economy and space tech, while Chinese Ambassador Wu Peng echoed a commitment to bringing tangible development gains to both nations and boosting global prosperity.
Deputy Minister Alvin Botes from South Africa’s International Relations and Cooperation spoke about China’s economic strength and high-quality growth, which are fueling Africa’s industrialization journey.
The dialogue also featured student voices! Uni reps discussed themes like green transformation, youth development and business collaboration, noting that CMG’s multilingual platform has opened doors for African youth to engage with China’s development story. 🤝
This event marks a fresh chapter in China–Africa cooperation, unlocking new opportunities and setting the stage for more tech-driven, youth-led ventures across the continents.
