2025 ASEAN Media Partners Cooperation Week Launches in Nanning

On Monday in south of the Chinese mainland, Nanning hosted the opening ceremony of the 2025 ASEAN Media Partners Cooperation Week, themed "Openness, Culture, and a Shared Home." Co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the event brought together around 200 participants—including government officials, ambassadors to China, media pros, and experts from the ASEAN bloc. 🇦🇸🤝🇨🇳

Fan Yun, deputy editor-in-chief at CMG and editor-in-chief of CGTN, highlighted the spirit of the recent Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. He stressed that the Chinese mainland will continue expanding high-level opening-up and pursuing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. In simpler terms, think of it as a growth plan that uses big infrastructure projects—like roads, ports, and digital networks—to connect people and markets across Asia and beyond. 🚀🔗

"Openness is our sailboat," Fan Yun said, referring to how AI (artificial intelligence), big data, and cloud communication can help media organizations share stories that resonate across borders. Imagine a news app that uses smart algorithms to tailor local stories for a reader in Jakarta or Dhaka—that’s openness in action. 🌐📱

He also described culture as the "heartbeat" of media work—people-centered, warm, and grounded. From festival coverage during Diwali in India to livestreams of Southeast Asian street food tours, culture keeps audiences hooked and more connected. 🎶🍜

Lastly, Fan Yun called for building a "shared home" through media. With CMG's 85 languages on CGTN’s platform and 192 overseas stations, the aim is to tell authentic stories of China-ASEAN cooperation and mutual benefits—so everyone feels part of the same community. 🏠📺

In a video address, Khamphanh Pheuyavong—who heads the Propaganda and Training Commission of the LPRP Central Committee in Laos—praised the event for highlighting long-lasting bonds between the Chinese mainland and ASEAN. He noted that in today's digital age, media is more than just broadcasting news; it’s a bridge linking cultures and boosting mutual understanding. 🌉💬

"Let’s tell more positive stories of cooperation and growth," Khamphanh urged. Laos is keen to deepen media ties with China and other ASEAN members, and this Cooperation Week will be a launchpad for fresh ideas and new pathways in regional collaboration. 🚀🎥

For young professionals and digital natives, this week is a chance to peek behind the scenes of cross-border media magic—where technology meets culture to build a resilient, sustainable community of shared destiny. Ready to join the conversation? Let’s go! 🔥✨
