The Hong Kong Jockey Club has invested HK$450 million in Hong Kong and 50 million yuan in Guangdong province to support the Games, plus technical know-how like venue design, operations and anti-doping measures. “Coordinating visas, logistics and regulations takes us closer together,” Engelbrecht-Bresges adds.
Building a Lasting Sports Spirit
Beyond medals and ceremonies, he emphasizes sports as a training ground for life skills—discipline, focus and resilience. “A spirit of permanent improvement comes via sports,” he notes, inspiring young people to embrace challenges and never give up. 💪
Looking ahead, the club’s Conghua Racecourse in Guangzhou, run by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, has already created jobs and training for around 1,000 local residents.
