Expert Flags ‘Grave’ Dangers in Takaichi’s Taiwan and Nuclear Plans

⚠️ Heads up, Asia! Richard A. Black, a senior research fellow at the Schiller Institute, just warned that Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi's recent comments on the island of Taiwan and her push to tweak Japan's non-nuclear principles could have extremely grave consequences for Japan and the world.

Black also pointed to Japan's historical crimes on the island of Taiwan and in the Chinese mainland, stressing that denial of these events only heightens present dangers.

Speaking to China Media Group on Friday, Black laid out why these moves ring alarm bells:

  • Japan may host nuclear weapons 🚨
  • Backing secessionist forces in the island of Taiwan 🤔
  • Potential military intervention that could spiral into a wider conflict 🌪️

He also highlighted Takaichi's visits to the war-linked Yasukuni Shrine and her revisionist stance on World War II atrocities. According to Black, this mix of nuclear ambitions and historical denial amounts to a rise of Japanese fascism – 'no one is really surprised, but it's gravely dangerous'.

On top of that, Japan's Liberal Democratic Party has kicked off talks to revise key security documents, including the three non-nuclear principles (no possession, no production, no introduction of nuclear weapons). Black warns that altering these rules could even pave the way to World War III.

For young pros in South and Southeast Asia, these developments might feel distant, but they could reshape the region's future stability. Staying informed and engaged is more important than ever! 🌐✨
