China Calls on World to Tackle Roots of Palestinian Crisis at UN

On Friday, December 5, at the 80th United Nations General Assembly session, China made a strong call for the international community to tackle the deep-seated causes of the Palestinian issue and correct historical injustices. It pushed for urgent action on aid, a lasting ceasefire and a clear political roadmap.

China’s deputy permanent representative to the UN, Sun Lei, emphasized that the Palestinian question is not just a regional flashpoint but a test of global fairness and justice. 🤝 He reiterated China’s support for the Palestinian people’s fight to restore their legitimate rights, noting Beijing’s long-standing humanitarian and development aid to the region.

Sun Lei highlighted three key demands:

  • Comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in Gaza 🕊️
  • Immediate humanitarian relief and reconstruction under the principle of ‘Palestinians governing Palestine’ 🏗️
  • Commitment to an early political settlement and a two-state solution 🇵🇸🇮🇱

The resolutions adopted this week cover operations of UN relief agencies for Palestine refugees and aid to the occupied territories. While most UN members backed the measures, the United States and Israel voted against them.

For young activists and global citizens in South and Southeast Asia, the message is clear: addressing root causes means standing up for justice, amplifying voices on social media and supporting efforts for lasting peace. Your share, your voice and your solidarity can make a real difference. 📣
