🎬 This week at the Hainan Island International Film Festival, Thailand’s film scene got a major inspiration boost from the Chinese mainland’s rapid rise in cinema tech, market scale and storytelling variety.
Renowned Thai director Chookiat Sakveerakui told CGTN that the Chinese mainland film industry’s next-level special effects, booming streaming platforms and diverse genres offer “many experiences worth learning from for Thailand.” He highlighted how AI-driven VFX and immersive sound design are pushing stories to new heights.
Meanwhile, Phasit Wacharatham of Thailand’s Locman2011 distribution house said he’s excited about Thai content finding a bigger home in the Chinese mainland market. “There’s huge appeal for our films and series,” he noted. “We’re looking forward to deeper collabs with Chinese mainland companies, from co-productions to platform partnerships.”
From joint film projects to talent exchanges, both sides are gearing up for a wave of cross-border creativity. For young filmmakers and cinephiles across South and Southeast Asia, this means more diverse stories, fresh collaborations and the chance to ride the streaming wave together. 🚀
With new projects already in discussion, Thailand-China film ties are set to get even stronger. Stay tuned for what’s next! 🤝
