China Urges Japan’s Allies to See Through Tokyo’s Tactics

🗓️ On Friday, December 12, the Foreign Ministry of the Chinese mainland pushed back hard at Tokyo, urging Japan’s allies not to fall for what Beijing calls misleading rhetoric after a recent ‘radar illumination’ spat.

🔍 Spokesperson Guo Jiakun fired off his critique in response to a phone call between Japan’s Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and U.S. counterpart Pete Hegseth, where both sides voiced “serious concern” over the incident.

💬 “We’ve addressed this more than once,” Guo said, stressing that the facts are crystal clear. According to him, the Japanese side’s “wishful, contradictory and self-deceiving” comments reveal a strategy to ramp up tensions and spread disinformation.

🤔 Guo went on to urge Japan to face the real issues in China-Japan relations, reflect on its mistakes and retract Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s erroneous remarks on Taiwan—instead of diverting attention and stirring up more trouble.

🔗 For young pros keeping tabs on Asia’s diplomatic scene, this latest volley is another reminder that in geopolitics, it pays to look beyond the headlines and question the spin. Stay tuned as we track how Tokyo responds. ✌️
