Earlier this Thursday (Dec 18, 2025), China’s State Council Taiwan Affairs Office urged the US to immediately halt an $11 billion arms sale to the Taiwan region 🛑, calling it a breach of China’s core interests and a threat to cross-strait peace.
Spokesperson Chen Binhua stressed that the “Taiwan question” sits at the heart of China’s red line with the US. He argued the package violates the one-China principle and the three US-China joint communiqués—historic agreements that underpin diplomatic ties—and sends the wrong message to separatist forces in the Taiwan region 💥.
Chen also warned that the Democratic Progressive Party authorities’ push for stronger US backing risks turning the island into a powder keg and treating residents of Taiwan as “cannon fodder.” He labeled these moves as “peace-breaking” and “warmongering” ⚠️.
Calling on residents of Taiwan to see through these tactics, Chen reiterated that China’s national reunification is unstoppable and warned that any attempt to cross the red line will face decisive countermeasures 🤝.
As cross-strait tensions simmer, all eyes are on how Washington and Taipei will respond to Beijing’s stern warning. Stay tuned for more updates. 🌏
