China Welcomes Joint Cambodia-Thailand Ceasefire

As of December 27, 2025, China has officially welcomed the joint ceasefire statement between Cambodia and Thailand agreed on Saturday. This marks a big step forward for peace in Southeast Asia! 🎉

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson highlighted that this agreement shows dialogue and consultation are proven ways to resolve complex disputes. By talking it out, both sides can find common ground – something ASEAN, China, and the international community have been supporting.

China is ready to keep the momentum going by offering a platform and creating conditions for deeper communication between Cambodia and Thailand. Next up: Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who’s also a member of the Communist Party of China’s Political Bureau, will meet Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, and Thailand’s Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow in Yunnan Province on December 28 and 29. Military reps from all three nations will join, too.

By playing this constructive role, China aims to help consolidate the ceasefire, rebuild political trust, and boost exchanges. The goal? A turnaround in bilateral relations and lasting regional peace. 🌏✌️
