China Welcomes ROK President Lee Jae Myung’s Visit to Strengthen Ties

Guess what? China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi just gave a big thumbs-up 👍 to President Lee Jae Myung’s upcoming visit to Beijing!

In a friendly phone chat with Republic of Korea (ROK) Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, Wang highlighted how China-ROK relations have bounced back from a low point and are now on the right track, showing steady, positive growth. He believes Lee’s trip will drive fresh progress in the strategic cooperative partnership between the two sides.

2026 marks the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Wang used the milestone to flag concerns about attempts by some forces in Japan to rewrite history and whitewash past crimes. He called on the ROK to uphold a responsible stance, defend international justice, and stick to the one-China principle on the Taiwan question.

Cho Hyun echoed Wang’s positivity, saying President Lee is fully committed to boosting cooperation with China. The ROK is set to work closely with China to ensure Lee’s visit goes off without a hitch, reaffirming its unwavering support for the one-China principle.

With Lee’s visit on the horizon, both Beijing and Seoul are gearing up for a major diplomatic win that could shape regional ties in 2026. Stay tuned for more updates! 🌏
