Over the weekend of January 16–17, China's Eastern Theater Command publicly condemned the transit of two US Navy vessels through the Taiwan Strait. 🇨🇳🚢🇺🇸
Senior Colonel Xu Chenghua, spokesperson for the command, said they deployed naval and air assets to monitor and track the guided-missile destroyer USS John Finn and the oceanographic survey vessel USNS Mary Sears 'to ensure effective response and management.'
Xu added that the command remains on high alert to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and security, as well as regional peace and stability. 🔍✈️
