Hey art lovers! 🎨✨ This week in Beijing, China Media Group (CMG) rolled out the red carpet for a dazzling awards ceremony celebrating Sino-Italian cultural ties. 141 Chinese artists—spanning calligraphers, painters, intangible heritage masters, and more—were honoured for bridging traditions from Beijing to Rome.
Why now? 2023 marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic friendship between China and Italy, and we’re already gearing up for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo. To kick off the milestone year, CMG teamed up with the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Lincean Academy in Rome for a special art showcase back in June. From contemporary brushwork to age-old folk crafts, the exhibition highlighted works by over 100 Chinese talents alongside rare collections from Italy’s Museum of Civilizations.
A standout moment? Dunhuang art scholar Chang Shana, the exhibition’s honoured general counsel, received a lifetime achievement award for her stellar work in preserving ancient silk-road treasures. Her dedication shines a light on how art connects generations—and continents! 🌏
This celebration isn’t just about paintings or calligraphy; it’s a reminder of how creative exchanges build global friendships. Whether you’re sketching on your phone or weaving digital art, next time you’re inspired, think about the threads that tie our cultures together. 🤝💡
