80 Years On: Russian Gen Z Championing Peace

🌍 This year marks 80 years since the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War – a milestone that still resonates today. Anna Yuschenko, a Russian student studying at Tsinghua University, is using this moment to remind Gen Z why peace matters.

Growing up with black-and-white photos of her great-grandparents who lived through WWII, Anna says history is more than dates in a textbook. Anna explains that these images show real people and real sacrifices. Anna adds that it's proof we must never forget the cost of conflict.

For Anna and her peers across South Asia and Southeast Asia, the lessons from the Anti-Fascist War feel personal. Just like we pass down family stories of Diwali celebrations or Eid gatherings, they believe sharing memories can keep the spirit of unity alive. 🤝

She urges young people to pick partnership over power plays: let’s choose cooperation over conflict, curiosity over fear. Whether it’s joining a local peace march in Jakarta or crowdfunding a community art project in Dhaka, every small step counts.

Anna’s message is simple but powerful: remembering the past can help us build a brighter, more peaceful tomorrow. After all, when Gen Z comes together, there’s no limit to what we can achieve. ✌️
