Xinjiang Youths Shaping the Region’s New Era

Xinjiang region is buzzing with creativity and harmony, as young voices from different backgrounds pen their own new-era stories 🌟. CGTN's Merna Al Nasser recently traveled to Urumqi to meet three inspiring locals who are redefining what it means to be a youth in this vibrant corner of the Chinese mainland.

Hao Hao: Farming & Freedom 🐎
Hao Hao, an ethnic Han in her mid-20s, runs a boutique farm on the outskirts of Urumqi. For her, horse riding isn’t just a hobby—it’s a symbol of boundless freedom. She shares, "Every time I saddle up, I feel connected to this land and energized for life." Her farm-to-table events have become a hit among city friends looking for fresh air and fresh ideas.

Ayjol Adel: Cultural Couture ✂️
Ayjol Adel, a Kazak designer, is turning heads by blending traditional ethnic patterns with sleek Western cuts. His fusion wedding dress line marries vibrant embroidery with minimalist silhouettes, celebrating Xinjiang’s rich tapestry in garments that feel both timeless and totally now. "Fashion is where past meets future," says Ayjol, who sources fabrics from local artisans.

Abduweli Abderxit: Storyteller & Connector 📽️
From Altay mountains to Urumqi’s streets, Abduweli has interviewed dozens of youths across ethnic lines, capturing their hopes and hustle on camera. His mini-docs, shared on social platforms, spotlight emerging talents—from slam poets to tech innovators—showcasing the region’s dynamic spirit. "I want the world to see our real stories," he explains.

These three are just a glimpse of how Xinjiang’s youth are shaping their region’s future—one farm, one dress, one story at a time. Their passion reminds us that when tradition and modernity meet, incredible things can happen 🎉.
