Greenland Locals Speak Out Against U.S. Seizure Threats

Since taking office in early 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened to take over Greenland, even suggesting the possibility of using force to make it part of the United States. On January 12, Republican congressman Randy Fine proposed a bill authorizing Trump to take all necessary measures to annex Greenland and eventually make it 'officially a state of the United States'.

CGTN Stringer interviewed several Greenlandic residents to capture their reactions, and the message was loud and clear: locals are not having it. ❄️✊

“I think it is preposterous. We are free people, and we don’t want to be part of the United States,” said local resident Kelly Berthelsen.

Across the territory, residents are united in defending their home and freedom. For them, being annexed would mean losing their identity and autonomy. 🌍❤️

What do you think? Is seizing a territory ever justified, or should borders and self-determination always prevail? 💭
