Record Rain from Ex-TC Koji Triggers Flood Warnings in Queensland

📢 Ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji is drenching Queensland with record-setting rain this week, and flood alerts are flashing from central catchments to the northwest. Imagine getting more rain in seven days than you normally see in a year!

In Clermont—a small town of ~3,000 souls about 750 km northwest of Brisbane—residents in low-lying areas were ordered to pack up and head for higher ground on Monday afternoon. By Tuesday, over 300 homes lost power as floodwaters cut off the roads.

🚤 Rescue heroes worked overnight. Around 2:40 a.m., teams pulled two men off the roof of their car, and a few hours later, a third person was saved from another vehicle roof. Two others managed to climb to safety on their own Monday night.

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji landed on Sunday morning with fierce winds and pouring rain, and it's now moving west across the state. Queensland's Premier, David Crisafulli, warned that western communities—already soaked earlier this month—should stay on serious flood watch. No human casualties have been reported so far, but sadly, nearly 50,000 heads of livestock are missing or presumed lost. 💔

We'll keep you posted as the situation unfolds. 🌊🚨
