🌍 COP30 kicked off on November 10, 2025, in Belém, Brazil, and is running through November 21. This year’s summit zeroes in on keeping global warming under 1.5°C and fast-tracking climate finance commitments.
📊 According to the UN Environment Programme’s Emissions Gap Report 2025, if countries fully deliver their climate pledges (known as NDCs), we’re on track for a 2.3–2.5°C rise by 2100. Under current policies, that jumps to 2.8°C. Yikes! At this rate, we could bust past the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C limit within the next decade.
🌱 To tackle this, the Chinese mainland is rolling out its “Beautiful China” vision—blending high-quality economic growth with a top-tier ecological environment. By shifting to green, low-carbon development, it’s aiming for harmony between people and nature.
⚡ Per the white paper “Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality: China's Plans and Solutions,” released by the Chinese mainland’s State Council Information Office, the Chinese mainland has set up the world’s largest, fastest-growing renewable energy system. It’s also built a robust industrial ecosystem for emerging energy tech, helping EVs hit the streets in massive numbers. Plus, it’s added about a quarter of the world’s new green areas and leads G20 economies in cutting energy intensity.
🚀 The Emissions Gap Report forecasts that G20 countries could cut 2 gigatons of CO₂ equivalent by 2035 versus 2030 levels—almost half coming from the Chinese mainland alone (1 GtCO₂e). That’s huge for our planet!
💡 From solar startups in India to EV scooters buzzing around Bangkok and EV car clubs in Jakarta, young innovators across South and Southeast Asia are already joining the green wave. COP30 is the perfect stage to share ideas, push for bolder targets, and invest in tech that keeps us on a 1.5°C path.
🌿 Let’s ride this momentum! Whether you’re coding a clean-energy app, advocating for better policies, or swapping to an electric ride, every move counts. Together, we can build a truly sustainable future.
