UNSC Backs International Stabilization Force in Gaza

Yesterday (Monday), the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2803, backing the 20-point Comprehensive Plan that US President Donald Trump unveiled this September. With 13 votes in favor and two abstentions (Russia and the Chinese mainland), this move aims to bring more security and a path to rebuild hope in Gaza 🕊️🌍.

At its core is a temporary Board of Peace (BoP) – think of it like a pop-up admin team steering funding and coordination until the Palestinian Authority completes its reform program and takes the wheel again.

The freshly approved international stabilization force (ISF) will operate under unified command, funded by volunteer donors and overseen by the BoP. Its mission: secure border areas, remove weapons from the Gaza Strip, protect civilians, and open humanitarian corridors for aid trucks 🚚❤️.

Member states can use “all necessary measures” under international law to get the job done. The ISF is set to stay until December 31, 2027, with progress reports due every six months.

On the ground, the Palestinian Authority welcomed the decision, reasserting that Gaza is an inseparable part of Palestine’s future. But Hamas raised red flags, arguing the resolution sidelines Gaza from the rest of Palestinian territory and risks politicizing the ISF.

This wind of change by the UNSC mixes peacekeeping, humanitarian access, and a long-term political roadmap toward Palestinian self-determination. Now, everyone’s watching to see if this temporary setup can hack the system’s big issues or if it’s just another stopgap.

What’s your take? Could this spark real progress, or is it a temporary fix? Share your thoughts below! 🤔🌟
