French Open to Honor Rafa Nadal in Grand Opening Tribute

The French Open is gearing up for a historic day as it pays tribute to the legendary Rafa Nadal! After an illustrious career marked by 14 unforgettable titles at Roland Garros, the celebrated Spanish champion is set to be honored on opening day. Fans from South and Southeast Asia and beyond are buzzing with excitement! 🎉

On May 25, a special ceremony will take place on Court Philippe Chatrier. Tournament director Amelie Mauresmo remarked, "Rafa made history at Roland Garros and his 14 titles will perhaps remain unequalled," a fitting tribute to a true tennis icon. This celebration not only looks back at a golden era but also embraces a vision for the future.

In addition, the French Open will celebrate other legends by honoring the 2000 women's champion Mary Pierce and bidding farewell to local favorite Richard Gasquet, who retires after this tournament. With a prize pool of 56.352 million euros, up 5.21% from 2024, the event is set to create unforgettable moments both on and off the clay courts.

Staying true to its tradition, the tournament will continue to rely on its trusted line judges instead of electronic line calling. French Tennis Federation chief Gilles Moretton explained that the unique challenges of clay courts benefit from the human touch, preserving the spirit of the game. 🎾
