Hey sports fans, get ready for some serious gym inspiration! At the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Jiangshan, the arena was buzzing with electrifying energy. Home favorite Yang Qiuxia stole the show in the women’s 71kg snatch by nailing a jaw-dropping 122kg lift (after a nail-biting video review 🤩), rewriting the record books and leaving the crowd in awe!
The DPRK's Song Kuk Hyang wasn’t far behind, matching the intensity with a bold 121kg lift before stepping up her game in the clean & jerk. With an audacious 155kg lift on her second attempt, she secured gold in both the clean & jerk and overall total—even as Yang took silver in that round with a 140kg effort.
The fireworks continued in the women’s 76kg division where world champion Liao Guifang set new benchmarks. Liao smashed the snatch record with a final lift of 125kg, and though her daring 157kg try in the clean & jerk fell just short, her 154kg lift still helped her clinch a staggering total of 279kg and all three gold medals 🏅!
Not to be outdone, in the women’s 81kg class, world champion Wu Yan dominated the competition. With a powerful 116kg snatch and a solid 147kg clean & jerk, Wu wrapped up a total of 263kg, leaving her closest rival from South Korea trailing by 11kg.
These phenomenal performances not only break records but also light a spark for young athletes across South and Southeast Asia to push their limits and dream big. What an epic display of power, precision, and passion!
