Sabalenka & Swiatek Shine at Wuhan Open Quarters

World number one Aryna Sabalenka is on fire at the Wuhan Open, racing into her fourth straight quarter-final with a dominant 6-3, 6-2 win over Liudmila Samsonova. Fresh from a holiday in Greece, she revealed she spent downtime hitting with Novak Djokovic in Athens. “We practised a couple times,” she laughed, “I hope I was a great hitting partner! 😎🎾”

Sabalenka’s unbeaten streak in Wuhan now stands at 19-0 as she chases her fourth title in a row. Up next is former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in what promises to be a thrilling clash.

Not to be outdone, Poland’s Iga Swiatek secured her 25th WTA 1000 quarter-final spot with a solid 7-6(2), 6-4 victory over Belinda Bencic. Swiatek will lock horns with Italy’s Jasmine Paolini, who advanced after Clara Tauson retired injured.

American teen sensation Coco Gauff continued her hot run too, beating wildcard Zhang Shuai 6-3, 6-2. And veteran Jessica Pegula fought through back-to-back three-set battles, most recently defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, to set up a showdown with Czech qualifier Katerina Siniakova.

With top names firing on all cylinders, the Wuhan quarters are stacked for epic showdowns. Stay tuned as the hunt for the title heats up! 🔥
