Guangdong Ends 12-Year Drought to Win Men’s Basketball Gold

🏀 Guangdong's men's basketball team reclaimed glory at the 15th National Games this Wednesday (Nov 12), crushing Zhejiang 101-65 in Dongguan and snapping a 12-year gold drought!

Despite missing center Yu Jiahao (off to fulfill an overseas contract) and forward Liu Zeyi, Zhejiang hung tough early, trailing just 21-22 after Q1. Zhang Hongshuo even knocked down a go-ahead three-pointer early in Q2.

But guard Xu Jie stole the show, draining four triples and dishing out 9 assists to lead a 53-42 halftime advantage. His hot shooting set the tone for a dominant second half.

After the break, Guangdong dialed up the full-court press 🔥, locking down Zhejiang's ballhandlers and holding them to just 11 points in Q3. Veteran newcomer Wang Ruize chipped in 16 points, earning his first major gold medal.

For coach Du Feng, this victory is extra special. A champion as a player in 2009, he's now guided Guangdong to three National Games titles since taking charge in 2013. At 44, he's cemented his legacy as one of China's top coaches.

With depth, sharp shooting, and unrelenting defense, Guangdong looks primed for a big CBA season ahead. Stay tuned! 😎🎉
