🔥 Road to Milano Cortina 2026 just got lit! This week, Olympic gymnastics silver medalist Zhang Boheng led four torchbearers for the Chinese delegation as the flame kicked off its journey through scenic Greece.
On Thursday, Nov 27, the flame blazed to life in Kalavryta – a mountain town west of Athens famous for its autumn scenery. From there, it ventured north to Patras, the gateway to the Greek mainland, crossing the legendary Rio-Antirrio Bridge that links Peloponnese with the rest of the country.
Alongside Zhang were three fellow athletes:
- 🏀 Wang Siyu (basketball)
- 🏃♀️ Chen Yujie (sprinter; double gold medalist in 100m & 200m at China's 15th National Games)
- 🏃 Wu Yongbo (cross-country runner)
"I feel honored and proud to represent the Chinese delegation in the torch relay," said Zhang Boheng. "It's also a huge encouragement for myself."
Wu added, "I hope all Chinese winter Olympic athletes can achieve great results and realize their Olympic dreams in Milan."
After wrapping up the week-long Greek relay, the flame heads to Athens for the handover to Italy's organizers on December 4, 2025. Next stop: the snowy peaks of Milano and Cortina d'Ampezzo! ❄️🏔️
